Let's face it: moving is stressful! There are so many things to do and so little time to do them. Conservice wants to make your move to or from your new home or apartment as easy as possible.
Moving in:
Conservice works closely with your apartment community or housing office to set up your account for you. Your Conservice account is tied directly to your lease, so your information, including your name, address, email address, and, where applicable number of occupants, is sent to us by your landlord or property management. Your Conservice account is automatically created for you on or shortly after your lease takes effect. Nothing more needs to be done on your end for any utilities that are billed to you by Conservice! It's that easy. First bills are usually sent out 4-6 weeks after you move in, but may vary depending on several other factors (see "Billing in Arrears" for more information). A welcome email will be sent to the email address that we have on file welcoming you to Conservice's billing and giving you access to set up your account on our website: www.utilitiesinfo.com.
If you have not received a welcome email or a bill notification after 4-6 weeks of your lease start date, please contact us with verification of that start date, and our team will ensure that your account is set up.
Note: Read your lease carefully! There may be other utilities not billed by Conservice that do need to be placed in your name directly with the local utility provider. Your lease will outline which utilities should be in your name, and which ones are billed by Conservice. For more information, please see review the "Vacant Charges" article.
Moving out:
Just as with moving in, Conservice has made closing your account as easy as possible. Your landlord or property manager will send Conservice information about when your lease has ended, and the process of closing your account will begin automatically. A final bill will be calculated, and regardless of how your normal payments were made (see "Where and how to make utility payments"), your final payment will always be paid to your leasing office. There are many times where the leasing office will further simplify it and take any amount owed for the final utility bill from your security deposit, refunding anything left over from that, or adjusting the bill if it does not fully pay it off.
If your account has not been closed within 2 weeks after your lease has ended, please contact us with verification that your lease has ended and our team will ensure that your account is closed correctly.
Note: Your Conservice account is not tied to when you physically move in or move out of a Conservice partnered community, but rather is active for the duration of the lease that you signed with your landlord.
